Amruthotharam kwath is a classical Ayurvedic medicine rooted in the ancient Malayalam Ayurveda recipe book - Sahasrayogam. It is also known as Nagaradi kwath. It contains deepana or carminative herbs that help in amapachana or metabolizing accumulated toxins. Usually, kasayas are not indicated in the early stages of high body temperature. Still, Amruthotharam Kwath has a unique formula that can be used even in the early stages of high body temperature. This excellent medicine for high temperature not only helps to optimize the body temperature but also helps to relieve indigestion, bloating, and other pitta-aggravated conditions During the initial stages of high body temperature, it’s common to feel weak and experience loss of appetite and body pain. If toxins (Ama) accumulate in the body due to weak digestive fire, they can delay natural healing and cause prolonged fatigue. Amruthotharam Kwath contains detoxifying herbs that help in Amapachana, the process of metabolizing and eliminating accumulated toxins. This helps bring down high body temperature and eases the discomforts commonly experienced during the early stages of high body temperature. By enhancing the digestive fire, it supports the body’s natural healing process and helps restore energy

The ingredients in Amruthotharam Kwath, namely Guduchi, Haritaki, and Sunthi, have been described using a unique analogy. They are compared to the eight elephants that hold the earth in eight directions, known as Ashtadigajas. The ratio of these ingredients is Sunthi: Haritaki: Guduchi, which is equal to the ratio of an elephant's body parts - Naga (elephant): Naganayana (two eyes of an elephant): Nagahastha (three arms of an elephant). This ratio is 1:2:3. Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) - Also known as Amrutha. Helps to enhance immunity and expedite natural healing. Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) - Helps kindle the digestive fire and improve appetite. Sunthi (Zingiber officinale) - Helps to enhance digestion and eliminate ama or accumulated toxins. Mix 15 ml of Kwath with 60 ml of boiled and cooled water. Add 1/4 teaspoon of sugar and take it twice daily, 30 minutes before food or as directed by an Ayurvedic physician. However, avoiding sugar in the kwath mixture is advisable if you have high blood sugar.
